Conceptual tree

Context: The sodium screen color was reflected within the prism of the beam-splitting camera and recorded an a separate black-and-white film strip as a negative silhouette image. This prism made it possible to shoot the live action of Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke while simultaneously forming a traveling matte of their silhouettes.
